Hit the Spot!
4835 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland, OR 97213
This week for our foodie adventure we wanted to try something that our inner child would have wanted. Something silly. Something fun. So for this week we decided to try Hit the Spot!
This burger grilling food cart located right off of sandy near the Hollywood district of Portland had caught our attention from their Instagram posts flaunting larger than life stacked hamburgers. The type that Scooby or Shaggy would make for themselves and we, being foodies had no choice but to see them in person.
Located in a parking lot in a friendly part of town, what first caught our attention was the line! Ten minutes before this shop had even opened there was a line of excited patrons waiting to get their burger fix. This only grew as the grill started going and the owners went to work, you can really tell the locals have a love of this spot.
Don’t be dissuaded by the crowd though, because the cooks inside are more than able to keep up. The line went rapid quick and our order barely took 4 minutes to be ready. We are impressed at how capable this cart seemed to be.
Now for the menu here they keep it simple, hamburger or cheeseburger. We decided to go with the Cheeseburger, but you know just a single patty wasn’t going to be enough for us, se we did the quadruple burger with American cheese and extra bacon strips. Sold for $4.99 per burger and $1.99 per extra patty, this mondo burger hit comes with a chipotle aioli, pickle, lettuce, onion, tomato and fresh jalapeños.
In all honesty we were expecting much from this burger. We thought it’s be neat to get a tall burger and just a fun experience. We were not prepared for this to actually be as delicious as it is! The burger patties are made thin in the smash burger style more often seen out east, the patties are then beautifully charred on the outside but still kept juicy in between, with the layers of sauce and cheese that makes ever bite a wonderful textural experience!
The veggies are fresh and don’t get in the way, this burger does not fall apart after the first bite but is well constructed all around making it so you can eat it without looking like a savage.
And a warning for those who can’t take the heat, those jalapeños are spicy and when paired with the chipotle sauce, you better make sure you have a drink.
We really did not think we could eat this whole behemoth in a single sitting, but when push came to shove we could not help ourselves and we devoured it. This is a most excellent burger and we cannot wait to have another. Big recommend to anyone who has a big appetite.
We give Hit the Spot! Ten burger patties out of ten! 🍔 🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔
