Dumpling Week! Ramen Shop Bites!

AFURI ramen + dumpling,

50 SW 3rd Ave, Portland, OR 97204

Now for our second stop on dumpling week we decided to try something a bit more traditional from our Japanese friends at Afuri Ramen + Dumpling. Now this is Afuri’s second location after the success of their larger Japanese restaurant in southeast Portland.

Now this is a much smaller location than their first spot, but that doesn’t take away from this Ramen Shop’s Charm and warm customer service. They have made themselves a wonderful niche restaurant for a quick bowl of ramen and in this case more importantly Dumplings!

I am vengeance! I am the Night! I want Dumplings!!

So the Dumplings! These delicious snacks artfully handcrafted are done in the gyoza style are stuffed with a seafood filling and then perfectly steamed and crisped. Giving a light crunch to the texture without becoming overly greasy like other gyoza might. Then topped with fresh Salmon Roe. Giving the occasional burst of flavor as the bubble pop on your tongue. Making this a well balanced of savory & sweet, hot & cool.

On the downside though at $8 for 3 you’re not likely to fill up on these alone making this a definite appetizer only. Still with the food as tasty as it is at Afuri you won’t have any problem finding something to fill you up. With Ramen starting at $15 and drinks and sides mid priced this may not be the cheapest eats for foodies but is still trip worth wild.

We bought a soft shelled bao bun. Surprising had a while crab inside. That’s what we call a Krabby Patty!

Overall with the price, size and ambiance we did have a good time at Afuri. It’s not the most memorable dumpling we ever tried but it genuinely made us happy.

We give the Afuri Seafood Dumpling Seven 🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟🥟 our of Ten!
